70 Plus Fall & Winter Slow Cooker Recipe Roundup

Fall is here my friends! I love the cool, crisp air, sweatshirts in the morning, and watching football with my hubby (okay to be honest, he likes that more than me!) One thing I truly miss all summer is my favorite fall and winter cooking method – my crock-pot (check out my favorite one here)!

I gave this baby a rest during the summer months, especially when our air conditioner broke – didn’t want to create any extra heat! But now that the weather is cooler, bring on the warmth and delicious smells from the easiest way to cook EVER – Sorry, I get a little excited when I am talking crockpots!

I enjoy lighting my pumpkin latte candle, pulling my hoodie over my ears, and running my crock-pot meals all day (and you should too)! Since I love my crock-pot so much I decided to bring you a collection of easy crockpot recipes from my fellow food bloggers.

Let me just tell you, these recipes are scrumptious! Not to mention, many of these recipes are cheap crockpot meals you can enjoy with your family even if you are on a budget.

Imagine walking out of your house in the morning after setting your crockpot and walking back in with dinner ready. Let your crockpot do the work so you can sit back and relax.

No more worries about dinner, mama! I’ve got you covered! These easy slow cooker recipes will have your family craving more!

FAQs

What is best in slow cooker? ›

Classics like chicken Alfredo, pepper steak, beef & broccoli, chicken cacciatore, and more might just taste even better in the crockpot (and are certainly way more hands-off than their skillet or baking dish counterparts).

What foods should be slow cooked? ›

Our Best Ideas for the Slow Cooker

We rely on it for comfort food season (think soups and stews, hearty chilis and fork-tender roasts) as well as Sunday dinners—like meatballs and red sauce with that simmered-all-day flavor.

Are slow cooker meals good? ›

Slow cookers are great for cooking cheaper cuts like beef brisket, pork shoulder, lamb shoulder and chicken thighs. You can also use less meat, as slow cooking really extracts a meaty flavour that permeates the whole dish. Bulk up with vegetables instead.

What goes in slow cooker first? ›

Place firm, slow-cooking root vegetables like potatoes and carrots at the bottom of the crock and pile the meat on top. Set the heat level: A general rule of thumb is that cooking on the low setting (170 degrees F for most models) takes about twice as long as cooking on high (280 degrees F on most models).

What's the difference between a crockpot and a slow cooker? ›

When we look at the material, it's evident that slow cookers and Crockpots consist of the same three components: Glass lid, pot, and heating element. However, Crockpots generally have ceramic or porcelain pots, while most slow cookers have a metal pot.

What cooks faster than a crockpot? ›

A pressure cooker can cook the same types of delicious recipes that a slow cooker can and so much more, but cook them substantially faster (click for pressure cooker recipes).

What are the disadvantages of a slow cooker? ›

What are the disadvantages of a slow cooker? Slow cookers only apply heat to the bottom of the crock, which cuts down on their ability to reduce liquids and brown foods, and develop flavor the same way a Dutch oven or pressure cooker can.

Is 4 hours on high the same as 8 hours on low in a slow cooker? ›

The difference is the time it takes to reach that temperature. Low: 7-8 hours to reach the simmer point. High: 3-4 hours to reach the simmer point.

Why putting a tea towel over a slow cooker? ›

Try putting a tea towel over the top of the slow cooker before replacing the lid. This absorbs the excess moisture, thickening the dish and deepening its flavours. The cloth can be replaced with a fresh one when needed, but usually one tea towel during the final couple of hours will do the trick.

Why put paper towel under crockpot lid? ›

The paper towel will absorb excess moisture and prevent any condensation from dripping back onto the food. Be sure to reach for a good-quality, sturdy paper towel that can absorb moisture effectively without falling apart.

Can you put raw meat in a slow cooker? ›

Can you put meat straight into a slow cooker? Meat can be added directly unseared and not browned. However, browning meat and caramelising the beef is a great way to add depth of flavour and improve the visual appearance of the final dish.

Does food taste better in a slow cooker? ›

The longer cooking time and the low heat complement each other perfectly. As a result, even though the meat is cooked for far longer, it doesn't dry out because the temperature is low. As a result, this is the best way to retain all the natural juices of the meat. It also makes the meat far more flavorful.

Should food be covered with liquid in a slow cooker? ›

Water or liquid is necessary to create steam. When cooking meat or poultry, the water or liquid level should cover the ingredients to ensure effective heat transfer throughout the crock. Some manufacturers of slow cookers recommend adding liquid to fill the stoneware 1/2 to 3/4 full.
