You can learn from our kids competitions. The fact is there will be someone who wins and someone who doesn’t. What matters is how you show up and what you do after. The fist bumps, the cheers, and the support of each other matters. Always! Of course it’s even harder when your team is getting crushed. These are the moments that growth happens. #perseverance #growthanddevelopment #determination

The accomplishments of record-breaking athletes like the University of Iowa's Caitlin Clark, have lessons for everyone - either in your professional career or your personal life. Hard work, determination, teamwork, goal setting, respect, positive attitude, winning and losing with class and an inner drive to do even better next time...just to name a few. Here is my latest column on Caitlin Clark and the man whose record she broke, Pete Maravich. I hope you enjoy the read. #caitlinclark#petemaravich#ncaa#nba#davidjolley#teamwork#positiveattitude#businesslessons

When It Comes To Winning At Life And Work, Staying On Target Can Often Be More Important Than Being Gifted Or Privileged. Thank you Lola Aje for sharing this video. The baby race was just too funny. The referee was hilarious 🤣 ❗ This video reminded me of the fable of the hare and the tortoise. 🤷♀️ Sadly, many gifted people, with everything in their favor, never cross the finish line i.e. achieve their dreams. Some reasons include:❌Getting distracted along the way❌Giving up before the finish line❌Turning back / Looking back✨ Lesson# 1️⃣ Keep your eyes on the prize 🥇✨ ✔ Be decisive: make a choice / take a decision✔ Be resolute: pursue your goal with an unwavering focus✔ Be steadfast: persist along the way👉 "Thus, the last will be first, and the first will be last.” (Matthew 20:16)#leadershipdevelopment #personalgrowth #personaldevelopment #coaching #christiancoach #catholic #success #goalsetting #focus https://lnkd.in/d4YCwfE3

On May 6, 1954, Sir Roger Bannister achieved the impossible - he ran a mile in under 4 minutes. This historic moment reminds us that limits are meant to be pushed, and records are meant to be broken! At the time, the 4-minute mile was considered an unbreakable #barrier. But Bannister's determination, grit, and unwavering belief changed the game. After Roger first broke the 4 minute barrier, it only too a few months to have another person do it. Then a few more. Today over 1000 people have done in in the 50 years since Bannister did it. Thus proving that once it was done, people believed they could do it too, and then they did. What's your "4-minute mile"? What's the #challenge you've been told is impossible? Today, let's remember that with dedication and the right mindset, we can shatter even the most daunting barriers. Read more about the power of the mind and your beliefs in #Exspeaktations book. #running #trackandfield #coaching #training #run #walk #marathon #5krun

Born Winners! Boys have an innate obsession of winning. This is why every challenge whether big or small is taken upon as an invitation to compete to overcome! Simply put compete to win. To win something as small as bragging rights or peers attention to as large and significant as 1st prize in athletics or Academic competition. Suppressing or belittling this urge in a boy is similar to telling him not to become himself or telling him to downgrade his masculine essence. The best way to harness their competitive energy is to channel it to meaningful activities that will produce results worth celebrating e.g. Becoming the best at helping others succeed, Understanding a difficult subject or skill etc.

What makes a championship team? The Totino-Grace high-kick dance team won the state title in class AA this past weekend. As a parent of a junior varsity dancer, my daughter and I got to watch the season, and the tournament, unfold. I noticed a few keys to their success that are true in business too.It started with vision. In July, senior Lexi Schaar gave a passionate speech to the team about how she could envision the girls wearing “those little blue medals” at Target Center the following February.Next came core values. In October, the seniors rolled out 4 guiding principles for the year. They repeated themselves often, plastering the season’s acronym all over the studio, team apparel, and communications.Thirdly, they had great coaching. Kristen Gagnon is one of the most decorated coaches in the state of Minnesota, in any sport. Early in the season, when the girls weren’t performing to their full potential, she told them what they needed to hear. She held them to high standards of excellence and discipline, all the while emphasizing that it was character that mattered in the end. There were many other factors in a successful season: committed athletes, supportive parents, a legacy of success. But vision, values, and coaching caught my attention because those are the things I work on with my clients every day.Does your team have a compelling vision? Do they know the company’s core values by heart and live them daily? Do you have a coach to hold you accountable and give you feedback? If you’re ready to start building that championship team, let’s talk!#eos #winning #vision #corevalues #coaching

Awaken the Champion WithinRise and shine! It’s time to awaken the champion within – no more settling for mediocrity. Our choices shape the trajectory of our life, so let’s take on challenges as lessons and use them to reach greatness!I refuse to settle for mediocrity. I refuse to accept being average. My aspirations reach far beyond the ordinary; I yearn for greatness. But not greatness measured against others; I strive to become the finest rendition of myself. I yearn to explore the vast extents of my capabilities, to exceed expectations, and to achieve remarkable feats. Deion Sanders continues to give us great opportunities to teach life through sport.Douglas Vandergraph continues his journey of teaching others how to accomplish their dreams and goals by sharing his thoughts on what is going on in Boulder Colorado with Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes. Deion Sanders is a master-class example for everyone who wants to be successful in life. Results can be deceiving. Sometimes, we are rewarded despite our behavior. Sometimes, we aren’t rewarded, even when our behavior says we should be. We can’t let immediate outcomes hinder our progress or fool us from the truth. Focus on the behavior and the results will come. Douglas is using the example being set by Deion Sanders to teach success because he cares about you. Douglas is putting himself out there as an example to others so they can see how anyone can take a chance, improve daily, and make a difference in the lives of others. What is it that you want in your life? Douglas can show you how to get it! This is a video series Douglas is completing in the hopes he can help just one person. Dr. Suess once said, "To the world, you may be one person, but to one person, you may be the world."
