Very excited to work together with the #AccesstoJustice Team of the OECD - OCDE and with partner-countries Malta, Ireland and Italy on a multi-country project to enhance access to justice through people-centred justice. ⚖ The kick-off with national partners took place last week. Kijk a.s. donderdag LIVE mee met de de finale van de Legal Tech Challenge!De afgelopen maanden hebben 34 studenten in elf teams, in opdracht van het ministerie van Justitie en Veiligheid en in samenwerking met de Universiteit Leiden, de Hogeschool Leiden en PLNT Leiden, hard gewerkt aan hun #legaltech oplossing voor veelvoorkomende juridische problemen om zo de toegang tot het recht te verbeteren, te vergemakkelijken en toekomstbestendiger te maken voor burgers. De finale vindt aanstaande donderdag 18 februari plaats van 13:00 tot 15:00 uur. Dan mogen de vijf beste teams, bestaande uit HBO- en WO-studenten verdeeld over het hele land, hun concepten presenteren. De winnaar mag het concept verder ontwikkelen tot een werkend prototype. The end of an era! This past spring, I have successfully defended my thesis, titled “A paradigm shift from voluntary to court-ordered climate change mitigation? The potentials and challenges of a human rights-based approach”.I have studied whether the growing invocation of human rights law in #climatechange litigation reflects a legal and societal shift from voluntary governance-based mitigation targets to court-ordered #mitigation obligations, and what the potentials of a human rights-based approach are. I have done this by conducting an extensive legal-dogmatic research of strategic cases from highly diverse jurisdictions. The Dutch #Urgenda case is central in that aspect. With the recent publication of this thesis, and after three enlightening years of studies abroad and two unique internships, I have obtained an LL.M. in International Human Rights Law from #LundUniversity's Faculty of Law. Many thanks to everyone who supported me throughout this period. And although I have to get used to the fact that this means the end of an era of being a student, I am very excited to kick off my career as a Government Trainee (Rijkstrainee) at the Dutch Ministry of Justice and Security!
