Trying to shed off some weight? Avoid these 10 foods

  • Muffins
  • Granola
  • Nuts
  • Peanut butter
  • Dried fruit
  • Chips
  • Pasta
  • Alcohol
  • Salad dressing
  • Eating out

At the beginning of the video, she said: 'Here are the top 10 foods that are making you gain weight.

'Of course you can only gain weight if you're in a calorie surplus or none of these foods are bad. They are just sneakily high in calories.'

The first food you should watch out for is actually a dessert, according to the dietician muffins are extremely high in calories.

She added: 'You know those muffins from Costco that are like big, yummy, delicious, and taste so good for breakfast? I want you to guess how many calories are in one of those. If you guessed between 700 and 900 calories, then you would be correct.

'It's like eating cake for breakfast, which is delicious, just higher in calories.'

Next, she told followers to keep their hands out of granola bags because one cup can range from '400 to 500 calories.'

She noted that you should proceed with caution when snacking on granola because it's 'not as low calorie as you may think.'

'Number three are nuts, of course they are very nutritious but a cup of these roasted almonds will run you 600 calories,' she said.

She added that you shouldn't eliminate them completely from your diet because they are good for you, however, they should be eaten in moderation.

The dietician also advised you use 'good portion control' when it comes to another nut product - peanut butter.

She explained that people often eat more than two tablespoons of peanut butter, adding that just one serving is 200 calories.

'Number five is dried fruit. Not only are they very calorie dense, but they usually have a lot of added sugar in them too,' she said.

She also noted that munching on dried fruit will cause your 'GI tract to hate you.'

Tayla had to make a follow-up clip with the other half of the foods you should watch out for.

The sixth food that can cause your calorie count to skyrocket is a fan-favorite Italian dish.

'Number six is pasta, not because it's bad by any means but it's just really easy to over eat. So next time you're cooking up your pasta, make sure you measure it to see what a two-ounce serving actually looks like,' she said.

Next on her list is another food that she claimed people don't measure.

She added: 'Number seven on this list is chips. I want you to check out these tortilla chips, one serving is only seven chips.

'When was the last time you only ate seven chips?'

Tayla noted that many of the foods on the list are a problem when you forget to measure them, especially her next item, which is salad dressing.

People on the web flooded the comments section and praised Tayla for her advice

'So typically one serving is two tablespoons, but two tablespoons can easily turn into four,' she said when speaking about the salad dressing.

The dietician described the ninth item, which is alcohol, on her list as 'obvious.'

'This one is probably obvious because of course it's going to be extra calories, but when you're in a calorie deficit and you're trying to burn body fat when you're consuming alcohol, your body has to stop metabolizing fat in order to get through to the alcohol.

'So it essentially blocks your ability to lose fat while you're drinking it and a little bit afterward,' she explained.

Lastly, she said that you should avoid eating out because you often eat more calories than usual without even realizing it.

People on the web flooded the comments section and praised Tayla for her advice.

One person said: 'Wow granola surprised me!'

Someone else added: 'Thanks, this is good information.'

Another user wrote: 'Time to avoid these until summer.'

'My granola nooo,' added another person.
